A few days ago I told you all I was taking an online workshop with Carla Sonheim, remember? I am pretending someone actually reads this. HaHa! Anyway... it has been fun. I got a little busy and failed to post anymore about it. Above is one of my finished pages. She walked us through various stages and in the end we come out the other side with the cutest little book made completely out of junk mai.l. In my case barrowed junk mail. After a few steps my book took shape. Here it is without any gesso or drawings. The idea is to draw on the pages and have the lines carry over onto the other pages. You then open up that page and continue on with another drawing. It's like a little puzzle. The workshop ended on Thursday. I am still working on mine because I am taking it kind of slow. This type of art is quite relaxing. There are no expectations. I am just kind of doodling and seeing where it takes me. Hmmm, that is pretty much the story of my life these days. I just kind of "doodle" and see where life takes me! You all have a laugh filled weekend.
Peace & Love, Sue

Labor Day weekend is Witches' Weekend. You all didn't know that? This year 10 of us chickies are heading to Saugatuck, Michigan. First let me explain, we aren't really witches. We are at times witchy and bitchy, but we don't cast spells or dance naked around fires in the moonlight. Of course there are a few that tried to convince me there would be naked dancing and a sacrificial goat when I was invited for the first time. I think there might have been some ulterior motives at play, but I kept my clothes on and never saw a goat! Nice try Hatfield! The main group of gals' fall weekend getaway was lovingly dubbed Witches Weekend by Dianne's sweet hubby Dennis. The gals got together to go the Bridge Festival and he got the hell out of dodge. Last year we went to Gatlinburg, TN. There were 7 of us. This year there will be 10. Within that 10 there are those that have personal space issues, one who swears she will not leave the pool the entire weekend, a newly single chickie, one who loves to have some wine and sing songs about corn, whiskey and being frisky. One who exhibits the powers of a witch but only uses them for good, some artsy fartsies, a health inspector, a cop, (Oh shit!) and one who is so proud of her ass she will drop her pants with little or no encouragement. There has been a corn-hole tournament planned, meal planning is underway, and Saugatuck's webpage is being surfed to find art galleries and extracurricular activities. We'll leave husband's, jobs, kids, and troubles behind and embrace the fun and diverse personalities that we'll be surrounded with. Come on Labor Day Weekend, I am ready to go! 17 More Days :-) After reading the post above I am almost positive you would LOVE to help me have the most fun possible. Am I right? Peace & Love, Sue Day 1 was fun. The assignment was to draw some animals and other items with one line. That's right, never lift your pen! That was more difficult than it sounds. Do you see an elephant in the picture above? REALLY? Well then I guess I pulled it off. My guess is to get us to quit being so hung up on perfect lines and detail. But that is just a guess :-) I also gessoed a bunch of my borrowed junk mail. Maybe I'll give it back to kelly when I am done. It's bound to be more interesting.
I hope you all had a groovy kinda Monday. Peace, Sue It's Sunday night and I am looking forward to the week ahead. I still have to clean up dog poo, empty litter boxes, and walk my furry friends as usual. But this week I am taking an online workshop given by Carla Sonheim. It is entitled Junk Mail Artist's Book. I think there is still time to sign up. Surf on over and check it out.
Want to hear something funny? One of the items on the supply list is junk mail. Would you believe I have to stop by a friends and pick up some junk mail from her tomorrow. Can you believe that? We seem to be the house that junk mail forgot. Am I complaining? Hell No! One of the first things we had to do for class is draw some shapes or items that tend to show up a lot in our artwork. Thats was easy. I am a doodle queen. My worksheet is below. I'll probably blog throughout the class. Stop by and see what we are up to. Until then have a great Sunday evening. Peace out. |
